Michigan’s Moment: Abdul El-Sayed Is Taking On AIPAC’s Corruption — And He’s Not Backing Down
Haley Stevens took AIPAC money to take down Andy Levin. Now Abdul El-Sayed is stepping up to prove that Michigan voters are done letting billionaires and war profiteers buy our elections.
August 7, 2025
In 2022, AIPAC made it clear what they wanted: eliminate any Democrat who dared stand for Palestinian rights — even if that Democrat was Jewish.
Their target was Congressman Andy Levin, a progressive and vocal critic of Israel’s apartheid policies. When redistricting pitted him against fellow Michigan Democrat Haley Stevens, AIPAC funneled more than $4 million into the race to destroy Levin’s career. The message was unmistakable: support Palestinian rights, and we will end you.
And it worked. Stevens, one of AIPAC’s most loyal allies in Congress, won the race — and went on to vote yes to send $17 billion in weapons to Israel, even as those weapons have bombed hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and food lines in Gaza.
But Michigan has another chance. This time, the story can end differently.
Abdul El-Sayed is not afraid.
In a powerful interview on Breaking Points, El-Sayed — now running for U.S. Senate — laid it out clearly:
“I’ve been clear and I’m not afraid of AIPAC because, to me, my moral integrity means everything.”
That’s the kind of leadership we need.
Standing up to AIPAC — and standing for justice
El-Sayed is running against Stevens again — this time not in a House race, but for an open Senate seat. And once again, AIPAC is expected to spend millions trying to buy the outcome.
But El-Sayed isn’t backing down. He’s calling out what few other Democrats are willing to say on national television:
“We have been watching as our taxpayer dollars have been subsidizing a genocide perpetrated by the most extreme element of another country who's received blank checks from us for a very long time.”
AIPAC’s formula is simple: flood Democratic primaries with right-wing billionaire money, buy ads, lie about candidates like Andy Levin, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman — and install politicians who will vote however Netanyahu demands.
But El-Sayed is disrupting that formula.
He’s rejecting AIPAC’s money. He’s rejecting the pressure. And he’s exposing the game.
“I think any Democrat today should agree that MAGA billionaire money flooding Democratic primaries should not be what dictates who comes out of Democratic primaries.”
This is our shot to prove them wrong.
Track AIPAC is backing candidates like Abdul El-Sayed because they represent what our democracy should be: powered by people, not billionaires. Guided by integrity, not lobbyists. Rooted in justice, not genocide.
This race isn’t just about Michigan. It’s about the future of the Democratic Party. It’s about showing the country that we won’t allow AIPAC to buy another election — not here, not ever again.
Help us win this fight.
